What Is Copal Incense Used For?
The use of incense has become increasingly popular across different continents as the years proceed. One of the most common types of incense that has existed since 2000 B.C. is Copal incense. Obtained from the trees belonging to the Burseraceae family in Southeast Asia, South and Central America, and some parts of Africa, Copal incense boasts different uses.
The term ‘Copal’ originates from the Aztecs, meaning the “Blood of the Trees,” since the resin is obtained from the sap of Burseraceae trees. The trees were highly considered medicinal by the Aztecs and the Mayans in Southern Mexico, naturally making Copal incense a medicinal resin.
